Some Perspective

I get so sick of hearing about Koran desecrations. What the hell is a Koran desecration? We're talking about a book! Apparently, people now consider flushing a book down a toilet to be torture. How the hell are we supposed to interrogate prisoners? We certainly can't use real torture like the taliban in Afghanistan or Saddam's brutal regime in Iraq. So what are we supposed to do if offending the prisoners' sensibilities is now to be considered torture? Beat them with fluffy pillows like Monty Python's version of the Spanish Inquisition? This is a war, and these people are the enemy. They need to be detained and the very fact that we're giving these people korans in the first place is a demonstration of our leniency, and our generosity. And the outrage in the arab world and in the American media is pretty ridiculous when you consider the desecrations committed by the supposed victims. What about the ancient buddha statues the taliban destroyed in 2001? Does that not count as a desecration? Or how about the desecration of jewish holy sites committed by palestinians? This whole thing is just another tactic to enrage the arab street and strengthen the resolve of our enemies.
