Peterson Judge Sentences Him to Death

Once again, I do need to bring up this point. Now, Peterson was charged with second-degree murder of Laci's fetus. Hmmmm.... So let me get this straight. If the mother doesn't want the baby, it's ok to kill it. If the mother DOES want the fetus, then it's not. So, the mother has the power to incorporate the fetus with a soul. Interesting. I didn't know woman had power like this. Can they do the same thing with a turd?

Well, considering that she was as far along in the pregnancy as she was,the "fetus" would have been capable of surviving out of the womb without life support. That was probably the reasoning behind the second degree murder charges. I find it highly improbable that the same chrges would have applied had she been in the first trimester of pregnancy. Now abortions can only be legally obtained within the first trimester, unless there is some sort of medical reason to have one such as a threat to the mothers life. I don't think that the issue has very much to do with possesing a soul.

Whether or not they possess a soul, or consciousness, is at the heart of the issue of abortion. I think Danbo was a little indelicate in his approach, but I do see his point. There is a glaring contradiction in the law.

No, I don't think that there is a contridiction. If a woman aborted her child or fetus, whichever term you prefer, past the end of the first trimester it would be considered second degree murder. That is if anyone new that she had purposely aborted the child. The same would go for situations with domestic violence. The problem for Scott was that he got caught, and his intentions were more than clear. Women cannot legally choose to abort a pregnancy past the four month mark without a real medical reason, at least not as far as I know. So I guess I am failing to see the discrepancy here. Any way Scott Peterson is getting what he deserves regardless of his son conor's death.

Here's my point. It shouldn't matter what trimester the baby is. Some women's rights groups say the same thing, only they think they woman should be able to have the abortion at any time. I don't. We have no idea when a baby becomes conscious. If he would have killed her in the first trimester, I think he should have gotten the same charge. I don't think those women's rights groups would think so.

Last comment. Had to put this up to finish my point. This is disgusting and illegal.

Sorry, this will be my final point in this matter. Don't want to over-comment here. Regarding the legality of situation, President Bush did not sign the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban until November 5, 2003. Laci Peterson disappeared Christmas week in 2002. No Ex Post Facto laws, gentleman.
